Introduction
The AP Art History course welcomes students into the global art world to engage with its forms and content as they research, discuss, read, and write about art, artists, art making, and responses to and interpretations of art. By investigating specific course content of 250 works of art characterized by diverse artistic traditions from prehistory to the present, the students develop in-depth, holistic understanding of the history of art from a global perspective. Students learn and apply skills of visual, contextual, and comparative analysis to engage with a variety of forms, developing understanding of individual works and interconnections across history.

Introduction

- Kleenex (for the classroom)

- Fred Kleiner’s Gardner’s Art Through the Ages, 14th edition (teacher provided)
Daily Grades
- Collaborative Quizzes and Assignments (Students will work together in assigned groups to answer questions or participate in group activities.)
- Homework Assignments and Quizzes (Students will prepare for topics of discussion. Usually, on the first day of the week, a quiz covering homework assignments and information learned in class so far will be given. Students can use their notes for these.)
- Graphic Organizers (Students will turn in notes taken on handouts from the three-ring binder.)
- Art Activities (Students will participate in selected art activities that extend learning and understanding of the course content.)
- Presentations (Students may be asked to present information to the class in short, brief presentations.)
Major Grades
- Nearpod Assignments Students will complete Nearpod assignments to practice answering multiple-choice questions.
- Out-of-Class Individualized Assignments Students will be required to create handwritten responses to free-response questions throughout the semester. Most of these free-response questions will originate from previous AP exams. Other types of out-of-class individualized assignments may be given.
- Individualized Assessments (Exams) Students will individually create written responses to a question or prompt.
Makeups
- Daily Grades Students do not need to makeup assigned daily work. Students, however may receive a zero if the absence is unexcused. If excused, the student will be exempted from this requirement.
- Major Grades Students must makeup individualized assessments. Questions on makeup individualized assessments differ from those given in class. A student must have an excused absence to makeup an individualized assessment. Makeups are generally given on Thursdays.
Late Work
- Work that is turned in late will receive a deduction of 10 points per school day. PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF WHERE TO TURN IN MAKEUP WORK.
